Route 4038 Layton Road Bridge Closure Begins Next Monday in Fayette County

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing the closure of the Layton Bridge, which carries Route 4038 (Layton Road) over the Youghiogheny River, in Perry Township, Fayette County will begin on Monday, June 16, weather permitting.

Beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, June 16, the Layton Bridge will close to all vehicular traffic between Falbo Road and Circle Street continuously through Monday, July 28. PennDOT crews will perform a routine inspection of the bridge. Additionally, crews from Allison Park Contractors will conduct replacement work of an expansion dam on span 1 as well as other miscellaneous preservation work – this work is part of a $4.3 million infrastructure improvement.

A posted detour will be in place using:

  • Route 4038 (Independence Street).
  • Route 4017 (Liberty Street/Cemetery Road).
  • Route 201 (Flatwoods Road/Main Street).
  • Route 1010 (Dickerson Run Road/Front Street).
  • Route 819 (Dawson Road/Main Street/Second Street).
  • Route 1041 (River Road/School Road).
  • Route 1002 (Banning Road).
  • Route 4038 (Layton Road).

No restrictions will occur over the Independence Day holiday weekend. The bridge will reopen to traffic at approximately 5 p.m. Thursday, July 3 and remain open until 7 a.m. Monday, July 7. The bridge will then reclose to traffic around-the-clock through 7 a.m. Monday, July 28.
