Route 2048 William Penn Highway Paving Operations Begin Next Week in Allegheny County

Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is announcing milling and paving operations on Route 2048 (William Penn Highway/Business 22) in the Municipality of Monroeville, Allegheny County will begin Monday, June 3 weather permitting.

Single-lane restrictions will occur on Business 22 in each direction between Penn Center and Northern Pike weeknights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Friday night, June 14. Crews will conduct milling and paving work.

Additionally, eastbound Business 22 will be reduced to a single-lane of traffic from 6 a.m. Monday morning continuously through 5 p.m. Friday, June 7 between Duff Road and Center Road/Stroschein Road. Crews will conduct pipe lining operations.

Work on this $23.84 million William Penn Highway (Business Route 22) preservation and rehabilitation project began in 2023 in Wilkins Township, Churchill Borough, and the Municipality of Monroeville between Huntingdon Drive and Mosside Boulevard. While crews conduct milling and resurfacing, base repairs, curbing, sidewalk, drainage, guide rail, signing, and pavement markings, motorists can expect single-lane closures. Additionally, a full closure of the ramp to Monroeville Mall and detour is for rehabilitation work is underway. Overall work will conclude in late fall of 2024.
