Graff and Infantry Bridges Preservation Projects to Begin April 22 in Armstrong County

Indiana, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing the Graff and Infantry Bridge preservation projects will begin April 22 in North Buffalo and Manor Townships, Armstrong County.

Work includes the rehabilitation of the Graff Bridge carrying US 422 over the Allegheny River; deck replacement and rehabilitation work for the Infantry Bridge carrying Route 66 over Garretts Run Road and US 422; and deck replacement for the Exit A 66 South Ford City ramp from US 422 East to Route 66 South.

The projects will have 12-foot lane width restrictions on US 422 East and West and on Route 66 North and South once construction begins.

The Route 8008 (Ramp D Exit A 66 South Ford City ramp) is anticipated to close April 28 through early Spring of 2026.  To detour, motorists will travel US 422 East to the US 422 East/Indiana Exit interchange, turn left onto Business 422, turn right onto the US 422/28/66/Kittanning/Ford City on-ramp then travel west to Exit A Route 66 South/Ford City exit.

The projects will have 12-foot lane width restrictions on US 422 east and west and on Route 66 north and south once construction begins.   As specific dates and parameters for the width restrictions are set, additional information will be shared.

Contractor, Swank Construction Company of New Kensington, PA will be completing this $45.6 million project anticipated to be complete at the end of October 2027.
