PennDOT's Washington County Maintenance Update -- Week of August 19, 2024

Uniontown, PA – Washington County Maintenance Manager Susan Howard announced the following tentative work plan for the week of August 19. All maintenance activities depend on weather and operations. 

Motorists can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive with caution through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the use of headlights. Safety is everyone's responsibility. 

Base repair:

  • Route 18 (Burgettstown Road) in Burgettstown Borough and Hanover, Mount Pleasant, and Smith townships
  • Route 40 (Main Street) in Centerville and West Brownsville boroughs
  • Route 844 (Jefferson Avenue) in Canton Township and the City of Washington
  • Route 2040 (Main Street) in Fallowfield Township
  • Route 2071 (Richeyville Road) in West Pike Run Township 

Bridge replacement:

  • Route 1061 (Mingo Church Road) in Nottingham Township

Road closed. Posted detour:

    • Route 1061 (Mingo Church Road).
    • Route 1059 (Sugar Run Road)
    • Route 1006 (Venetia Road, Rankintown Road, Washington Avenue) 
    • Route 88 (Washington Avenue, Brownsville Road, Finleyville Road)

Brushing and tree trimming:

  • Route 3004 (Dutch Fork Church Road) in Donegal Township 

Ditch line cleaning:

  • Route 837 (Main Street) in Union Township and the City of Monongahela 

Litter removal:

  • Interstate 70 in Amwell, Chartiers and South Strabane townships 

Mowing:

  • Route 22 Ramp 8046 in Hanover Township
  • Interstate 70 Ramp 8014 (Jefferson Avenue) in the City of Washington
  • Route 221 (Chestnut Street Extension) in Buffalo Township
  • Route 519 Park and Ride Ramp 9501 in North Strabane Township
  • Route 837 Ramp 8025 in Donora Borough 

Patching:

  • Route 19 (Amity Ridge Road) in Amwell and South Strabane townships 

Seal coating:

  • Route 3018 (Middle Creek Road) in West Finley Township
  • Route 3019 (Beham Ridge Road) in Donegal and West Finley townships
  • Route 3021 (Old Brick Road) in West Finley Township
  • Route 3023 (Old Brick Road) in Donegal Township
  • Route 3045 (Fraction Road) in West Finley Township 

Shoulder cutting:

  • Route 40 (Main Street) in Amwell, Canton South Strabane, and West Pike Run townships and the City of Washington
  • Route 2011 (Lone Pine Road) in Amwell and West Bethlehem townships
  • Route 2020 (Plumsock Road) in Amwell, Morris, and West Bethlehem townships
  • Route 2050 (Robinson Road) in North Bethlehem Township
  • Route 2051 (Spring Valley Road) in North Bethlehem Township
  • Route 2053 (Weaver School Road) in North Bethlehem Township 

Slide repair:

  • Route 2015 (Spring Valley Road) in West Bethlehem Township
  • Route 2063 (Beallsville Road) in Deemston Borough 

Litter crews will be picking litter on various routes throughout the county as weather and other activities permit. 

Signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced, and work orders will be addressed on various state routes throughout the county. 

PennDOT has a toll-free number for residents to call to report any road maintenance concern.  This number can also be utilized to report locations of dead deer on state highways. The number is 1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623). 

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts
