Culvert Replacement Project to Resume on Route 641 in Cumberland County

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a culvert replacement project is set to resume on Route 641 in Cumberland County. The bridge is located between Kough Road and Springfield Avenue in N. Newton Township and Newville Borough.

Weather permitting, work on this project will resume Monday, April 29. Work includes milling and paving. There will be lane restrictions during daylight hours with flaggers providing traffic control. This work will take about two weeks to complete.

This project consists of the replacement of an existing culvert with a precast box culvert, the construction of a retaining wall, and other miscellaneous construction.

Lobar Site Development, Inc., of Dillsburg, PA, is the contractor on this $1,474,943 project.

All work is expected to be completed by November 19, 2024.

Travelers are reminded to be alert for these operations, to obey work zone signs, and to slow down when approaching and traveling through work zones for their safety as well as for the safety of the road crews.
