Bridge Replacement Project to Begin Tomorrow on Hidden Valley Road in Tyrone Township, Perry County

Separate detours for cars and trucks

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a bridge replacement project is scheduled to begin tomorrow, Thursday, March 21, on Hidden Valley Road (Route 3010) in Tyrone Township, Perry County. The bridge spans Shermans Creek between the Village of Loysville and Blain Borough.

Weather permitting, the bridge will be closed and an approximately 271-day detour will be in place. 

Separate truck and car detours will be in place during the closure.

The car detour will use Iron Bridge Road (Route 3009), Route 274, Route 850 and Weavers Mill Road. The truck detour will use Manassa Road (Route 3006), Route 274, Route 850, and Weavers Mill Road. 

This project consists of a bridge replacement and minor roadway reconstruction.

George S. Hann and Son, Inc., of Fort Littleton, PA, is the contractor on this $3,153,882 project. Also included in this contract is the replacement of the bridge spanning Baken Creek on Route 74 (Waggoners Gap Road) in Spring Township, Perry County. That bridge is expected to be closed on Monday, April 1. An approximately 267-day detour will be in place. 

All work on this contract is expected to be completed by November 1, 2025.
