King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that roadway construction will occur at night next week on Interstate 95 in Philadelphia.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:
- Monday, December 11, through Friday, December 15, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure will be in place on southbound I-95 between the Girard Avenue (Exit 23) and I-676 (Exit 22) interchanges for core borings; and
- Friday, December 15, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a left lane closure will be in place on northbound I-95 between the Betsy Ross Bridge Interchange and Bridge Street for barrier placement.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The barrier placement is part of PennDOT's $268 million I-95 Section BS2 project to reconstruct I-95 in both directions between Margaret Street and the relocated Carver Street.
The core borings are part of PennDOT's upcoming I-95/GR6 project to reconstruct southbound I-95 between Frankford Avenue and the I-676/Vine Street Expressway.
