Dunmore, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will host a public meeting on March 26, 2025, at 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a formal presentation at 6:00 PM, to introduce the Route 1014 Bridge Project, located in Lackawaxen Township, Pike County. The meeting will feature a presentation from PennDOT Engineering District 4 and project team representatives, followed by an open discussion to receive public feedback and answer questions. Project area design maps will be displayed for the entirety of the meeting for all visitors to review.
The purpose of the project is to provide a sustainable crossing over Westcolang Creek that provides a two-lane bridge, addresses the structural deficiencies, and provides continued access to local residents, businesses, and emergency services.
The existing structure is a single-span, 27-foot-long concrete adjacent box beam bridge carrying two lanes of traffic with a curb-to-curb width of 22.3 feet. The overall width of the bridge is 24.4 feet. There are no sidewalks on the bridge.
The proposed design concept was developed through various efforts including, but not limited to, line and grade plans, environmental clearances, surveying, geotechnical analyses, traffic planning, utility verification and relocation plans, Right-of-Way (ROW) plans.
This bridge project aims to improve safety and reliability in the project area by addressing structural deficiencies and features of the bridge. It seeks to mitigate traffic disruptions and enhance the roadway for all users. Additionally, the project exemplifies PennDOT’s goals of providing safe and sustainable transportation infrastructure across the Commonwealth.
A virtual plans display that includes digital picture boards and an online comment form will be made available to the public from March 12, 2025 to April 9, 2025.
