Interstates 70 and 79 Line Painting Begins Monday in Greene, Washington, and Westmoreland Counties

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that line painting operations are scheduled to begin Monday, May 20, 10:00 AM, on spans of Interstates 70 and 79 in Greene, Washington, and Westmoreland counties.

Mobile work zones will occur during daylight hours, Mondays through Thursdays, on Interstate 70 between the West Virginia state line and Interstate 76 (Pennsylvania Turnpike) interchange, and on Interstate 79 between the Route 576 (Southern Beltway) interchange and West Virginia state line.

Work, conducted by district maintenance department forces, is anticipated through mid-June depending on weather and operations.

Roadway line painting is an important part of PennDOT's highway safety initiatives. Paint lines provide direction, delineation, and guidance to motorists.

Motorists who accidentally get paint on their vehicles should immediately wash it off with a high-pressure water stream and detergent. Dried paint can be removed with de-natured alcohol and a soft cloth. PennDOT is generally not responsible for paint on vehicles.

Use caution and be aware of changing traffic patterns when driving through the area.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
