    Lane Restrictions Next Week on I-83 John Harris Memorial (South) Bridge over Susquehanna River in Harrisburg, Dauphin County

    Bridge to be inspected

    Harrisburg, PA – Motorists in the Harrisburg area are advised there will be daytime traffic restrictions for a bridge inspection next week on southbound and northbound Interstate 83 John Harris Memorial (South) Bridge spanning the Susquehanna River between Cumberland and Dauphin counties. 

    Weather permitting, this work will be performed Sunday, May 7, through Wednesday, May 10.

    The southbound I-83 shoulder will be closed across the bridge from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM Sunday, May 7, and from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM Monday and Tuesday, May 8-9. 

    The northbound right lane will be closed at the Lemoyne on-ramp and the southbound shoulder will be closed at the Lemoyne off-ramp from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 10. 

    Three lanes will remain open each day.

    Inspectors plan to inspect the South Bridge using an inspection crane from the roadway.

    There will be lane closures in the subsequent weeks throughout May in both directions to be announced.

    Travelers are reminded to be alert for these operations, to obey work zone signs, and to use caution when traveling through work zones for their safety, as well as for the safety of the road crews.
