Route 72 (Ebenezer Road) Bridge in Union and Swatara Townships, Lebanon County, is Open to Traffic

Harrisburg, PA
– The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that the Route 72 (Ebenezer Road) bridge spanning Swatara Creek between Jonestown Road in Union Township and New Bunker Hill Road in Swatara Township, Lebanon County, is open to traffic.

The bridge was closed in April for replacement. The detour currently in place has been lifted.

Temporary traffic control measures implemented at two locations during the closure have returned to pre-project conditions. A four-way stop condition at the intersection of Route 72 and Thompson Avenue has returned to a two-way stop condition with stop signs situated at both approaches on Thompson Avenue, and no stop signs at the Route 72 approaches.

A temporary traffic signal placed at the intersection of Market Street and Lancaster Street in Jonestown Borough to assist with traffic flow through the intersection has been deactivated and the intersection returned to a two-way stop condition with stop signs situated at both Lancaster Street approaches, and no stop signs at the Market Street approaches.

Susquehanna Valley Construction Corporation of New Cumberland, PA, is the contractor on this $4,961,250 project.

This project consists of replacing the existing structure, minor roadway reconstruction, guiderail improvements, and drainage improvements.
