King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that major construction will begin next week on a project to improve mobility and safety at the Route 23 (Nutt Road) and Starr Street Intersection in Phoenixville Borough, Chester County.
Under this improvement project, PennDOT's contractor will construct a dedicated left-turn lane from eastbound Route 23 (Nutt Road) to Starr Street to increase traffic flow and improve congestion. In addition, westbound Route 23 (Nutt Road) will be widened at the intersection to provide space for a new right-turn lane onto Starr Street.
Additional enhancements include modernized traffic signals and ADA curb ramps; new pavement markings; upgraded bus stop concrete pad; and milling and resurfacing of the roadway.
Beginning Monday, June 19, through Friday, June 30, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, weekday periodic lane closures are scheduled at the Route 23 (Nutt Road) and Starr Street Intersection for temporary traffic signal installation.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
Marino Corporation of Skippack, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on this $941,319 project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.
Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
