Microsurfacing Project Begins Tonight on Route 220 in Bradford County

Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised that a microsurfacing project begins tonight on Route 220 in Athens Borough, Athens Township, and South Waverly Borough, Bradford County.

On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, the contractor, Suit-Kote Corporation, will begin removing pavement markings along Route 220 between just north of the Route 199 intersection in Athens Township to approximately 0.2 miles south of the New York state line in Waverley Borough. Work includes the adjacent interchanges Route 1064 (Pine Street) and Route 4022 (Wilawana Road). The week of June 3, 2024, the contractor will begin microsurfacing the project area. 

Motorists can expect lane restrictions where work is being performed. Work will be performed between the hours of 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM, weather permitting. Work on this project is anticipated to be completed on Friday, July 19, 2024.

Suit-Kote Corporation is the prime contractor for this $1,361,467 microsurfacing project. Work on this project includes removal the pavement markings, microsurfacing, and line painting. Microsurfacing is used to maintain and preserve the wearing surface of the existing road.  

Motorists should be alert, slow down, expect delays in travel, and drive with caution through the work zone.
