Route 4070 Wildwood Road Bridge Long-term Closure Begins Wednesday in Hampton Township

Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is announcing the long-term closure of the bridge that carries Wildwood Road (Route 4070) over Willow Run and the Allegheny Valley Railroad in Hampton Township, Allegheny County, will begin Wednesday morning, March 1 weather permitting.

Beginning at approximately 7 a.m. on Wednesday, the Wildwood Road Bridge located between Wildwood Sample Road and Venture Drive will close to traffic around-the-clock through early November. All traffic will be detoured.

  • Turn right onto Route 910 (Gibsonia Road)

  • Turn right onto Route 8 (William Flinn Highway)

  • Follow Route 8 back to Wildwood Road

  • End detour

East of the Bridge

  • Same detour in the opposite direction

  • From Route 4070 (Ingomar Road/West Ingomar Road), take Route 19 (Perry Highway) northbound

  • Take the North Chapel Road ramp to Route 910

  • Turn left onto Route 910 (Wexford Road)

  • Route 910 (Wexford Road) becomes Route 910 (Gibsonia Road)

  • Turn right onto Route 8 (William Flinn Highway)

  • Follow Route 8 back to Wildwood Road

  • End detour

East of the Bridge

  • Same detour in the opposite direction

Operations on the structure include a full deck replacement, construction of new hammer head piers, replacement of the adjacent concrete box with steel girders, and approach paving work.  Additionally, a full 247-day closure of the bridge is anticipated, requiring traffic on Wildwood Road to be detoured. The project is expected to conclude in mid-December 2023.

The Mekis Construction Corporation is the prime contractor on this $5.92 million project.
