Project Overview
County: Bucks
Municipality: Buckingham Township
State Route(s): 1004
Local Name(s): Cold Spring Creamery Road
Project Type: Bridge Replacement
Last Updated: August 2025
PennDOT plans to replace the bridge that carries Cold Spring Creamery Road over a branch of Pine Run in Buckingham Township, Bucks County. The existing single-span reinforced concrete slab bridge was originally built in 1954 and has a total width (measured out-to-out) of 23.7 ft. The current bridge shows signs of deterioration.
The proposed bridge will be a precast concrete box culvert constructed along a similar horizontal and vertical alignment as the existing structure. The new culvert will be wider, accommodating two 10-foot travel lanes, 4-foot shoulders on each side, and a 10-foot sidewalk, for a total out-to-out width of 43.06 feet. Roadway improvements will include full-depth pavement reconstruction of the approaches over a length of approximately 450 linear feet. Approach guiderails will be replaced on both sides.
During construction, Cold Spring Creamery Road will be closed to all through traffic. Drivers will be directed to use a detour route that involves Swamp Road (Route 313), E State St (U.S. 202), Mechanicsville Road, and Durham Road (Route 413). Additionally, aerial utilities will be relocated as part of the project.
