Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Engineering District 8-0 invites the public to an online plan display regarding pedestrian safety upgrades to Route 441 (Eisenhower Blvd) in Swatara Township, Dauphin County.
The purpose of the project is to provide safer pedestrian access along the Route 441 (Eisenhower Blvd) corridor between Highland Street and Lindle Road. The proposed work will install new sidewalks on both sides of Route 441 along with ADA curb ramps, including ADA curb ramps at driveways, pedestrian signals, and crosswalks at the intersections. The project will also mill and pave the existing pavement and provide new pavement markings. The new pavement markings will allow for bike lanes in both directions. Street lighting will also be installed along both sides of the road.
Construction is estimated to take place in the 2025 construction season. Traffic will be maintained throughout the duration of the project via staged short-term construction. Driveway access will be maintained at all times during construction to businesses along this section of Route 441. The acquisition of temporary construction easements or required right of way will not be required for this project as the existing legal right of way is wide enough to accommodate all necessary upgrades.

The plans display will be held online only. A digital version of the information will be available to view online until June 8, 2024.
The purpose of the plans display is to introduce the project and receive public input regarding any questions or concerns with the project.
