PennDOT will be Performing Line Painting on Interstates in District 4

Dunmore, PA – PennDOT will begin line painting this weekend in District 4 on Sunday, May 14, 2023, and work will last approximately 2 months. They will begin on Interstate 81 from mile marker 160 to mile marker 178 in Lackawanna and Luzerne counties Sunday from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

Avoid getting paint on your car by taking the below precautions:

  • Stay back 500 feet from our line-painting equipment;
  • Don't drive on the wet paint lines;
  • Don't pass the trucks in the paint train; and
  • BE PATIENT! The paint truck will pull over periodically to let traffic pass.

When encountering a work zone, please drive the posted speed limit, turn on your headlights, pay close attention to signs and flaggers, and avoid all distractions. In high-traffic locations, motorists are encouraged to use both lanes of travel to the merge point and take turns merging into the open lane.
