Reconstruction Project Continues This Week on Interstate 80 EB in Columbia County

Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised that a multi-year reconstruction and resurfacing project continues this week on Interstate 80 eastbound between just west of the Montour County line and the Route 42 interchange in Hemlock Township, Columbia County.

The previously announced work scheduled for this week has been postponed due to inclement weather. The revised schedule is as follows:

  • On Thursday April 4, 2024, and Friday, April 5, 2024, the contractor, New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co., Inc. will begin placing long-term road signs between the Montour / Columbia County line (approximately 3 miles east of Exit 224 (Route 54 / Danville)) in Valley Township, Montour County and Exit 233 (Route 42 / Buckhorn), Hemlock Township, Columbia County. Work will be performed along the shoulder and will not impact traffic. Work will be performed between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

  • On Sunday, April 7, 2024, and Monday, April 8, 2024, the contractor will begin work along the left shoulder between mile marker 228 and 230. Motorists can expect the left (passing) lane to be restricted where work is being performed.  Work will be performed between the hours of 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

  • On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, the contractor will be setting barrier along the right (driving) lane, in preparation for a lane reconstruction near mile marker 231.  Motorists can expect the right (driving) lane to be restricted while the barrier is being placed. Once the barrier is in place, there will be two lanes of traffic shifted to the left. Work will be performed between the hours of 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

Motorists should be alert, slow down, expect delays in travel, watch for stopped or slow-moving vehicle, watch for lane changes, and drive with caution through the work zone.
