Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised a bridge rehabilitation project on Route 4049 (Elk Grove Road) will require a lane closure beginning next week in Sugarloaf Township, Columbia County. The bridge is just north of Benton and carries Elk Grove Road over the West Branch of Fishing Creek.
Beginning Monday, May 20, 2024, one lane will be closed at the bridge, and traffic will be maintained in both directions with a temporary traffic signal. Work is expected to take eight months to complete, weather permitting.
Rylind Construction Company is the prime contractor on this $1,700,000 project. Work includes deck replacement for the existing three-span non-composite adjacent box beam bridge with approach work to tie into the existing roadway.
Motorists should be alert, slow down, and expect delays in travel.
