Bridge Rehabilitation to begin Friday on Route 22 in Delaware Township, Juniata County

Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced work will begin on Friday to rehabilitate two bridges on Route 22 eastbound and westbound in Delaware Township, Juniata County. Both bridges span Platt Hollow Road at the Thompsontown/East Salem exit. This work will extend the life of the structures and improve safety and ride quality for the traveling public.

Beginning Tuesday, April 15, a 14-foot width restriction will be implemented with one-lane traffic through the work zone. The eastbound on-ramp at Thompsontown will also be closed, and a detour around the project will follow Route 3002 (William Penn Highway) to the eastbound on-ramp just west of Pfoutz Valley Road.

Workers will be in the roadway and motorists need to be alert for sudden stops.  PennDOT reminds drivers to use caution and not to follow trucks into the closed lane as they deliver material.

Overall work on this project includes superstructure replacement and concrete repairs, paving, drainage improvements, guide rail installation, curbing, installation of pavement markings, and other miscellaneous construction. Jay Fulkroad and Sons, Inc. of McAlisterville, PA is the contractor on this $4.3 million project. PennDOT anticipates completion in September.
