PennDOT's Greene County Maintenance Update

Uniontown, PA Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Greene County Maintenance Manager Dale Baird has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of October 30, 2023. All maintenance activities are conducted depending on weather and operations.

Motorists can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive with caution through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the use of headlights. Safety is everyone's responsibility.

Boom mowing:

  • Route 2009 (Gas Company Road) in Perry Township. 

Bridge replacement:

  • Route 3013 (Oak Forest Road) in Franklin Township.
    • Road closed.
    • Detour is posted as follows:
      • Route 3013 (Oak Forest Road).
      • Route 3014 (Bluff Ridge Road).
      • Route 218 (Smith Creek Road).
      • Route 19 (East High Street).
      • Route 21 (West High Street/Main Street).
      • Route 18 (West Roy Furman Highway/Golden Oaks Road).
      • Route 3013 (Oak Forest Road). 

Crack sealing:

  • Route 21 (East Roy Furman Highway) in Cumberland Township. 

Litter and debris removal:

  • Interstate 79 in Franklin, Perry, Washington, and Whiteley townships. 

Minor drainage improvement:

  • Various state routes throughout the county.  

Pipe flushing:

  • Route 1015 (Clarksville Road) in Jefferson Township.
  • Route 1017 (Crucible Road) in Cumberland Township. 

Shoulder cutting:

  • Route 3009 (Toms Run Road) in Gilmore, Jackson and Wayne townships.
  • Route 3011 (Hargus Creek Road) in Center and Jackson townships.
  • Route 3013 (Oak Forest Road) in Center and Wayne townships.

 Shoulder patching:

  • Route 21 (East Roy Furman Highway) in Center Township. 

Spray patching:

  • Interstate 79 in Franklin, Perry, Washington, and Whiteley townships.
  • Route 19 (Mount Morris Road) in Perry and Whiteley townships.
  • Various state routes throughout the county as needed. 

Surface milling:

  • Route 1011 (Clarksville Road) in Morgan Township.
  • Route 1017 (Crucible Road) in Cumberland Township.
  • Route 1021 (Crucible Road) in Cumberland Township. 

Litter crews will be picking litter on various routes throughout the county as weather and other activities permit.

Signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced, and work orders will be addressed on various state routes throughout the county.

PennDOT has a toll-free number for residents to call to report any road maintenance concern.  This number can also be utilized to report locations of dead deer on state highways.  The number is 1.800.FIX ROAD (1.800.349.7623).
