Route 2048 William Penn Highway/Business 22 Single-lane Restrictions Begin Thursday in Allegheny County

Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is announcing long-term lane restrictions on Route 2048 (William Penn Highway/Business 22) in Churchill Borough, Wilkins Township, and the Municipality of Monroeville, Allegheny County will start late Thursday night, May 4 weather permitting.

Beginning at approximately 11:59 p.m. Thursday night, westbound traffic on Business 22 will be crossed over into the eastbound lanes at the bridge over Lower Rodi Road.  A single-lane of traffic will be maintained in both directions through mid-July to allow crews to conduct half-width structure repair work. Traffic will be crossed over in the opposite direction to allow work on the other side of the bridge in mid-June.

Additionally, the ramp from northbound Lower Rodi Road to eastbound Business 22 will close to traffic around-the-clock through mid-June. Ramp traffic will be detoured.

Posted Detour

  • Traffic from Lower Rodi Road will continue westbound onto Business 22

Work on this $23.84 million William Penn Highway (Business Route 22) preservation and rehabilitation project began in March in Wilkins Township, Churchill Borough, and the Municipality of Monroeville between Huntingdon Drive and Mosside Boulevard. While crews conduct milling and resurfacing, base repairs, curbing, sidewalk, drainage, guide rail, signing, and pavement markings, motorists can expect single-lane closures. Later this year, motorists can expect a crossover implemented between Rodi Road and the Hall Station Bridge for preservation work. Additionally, in 2024 a full closure of the ramp to Monroeville Mall and detour is anticipated for rehabilitation work. Overall work will conclude in the fall of 2024.

Please use caution in the area. Local police will be used to assist.

Crews from Golden Triangle Construction will conduct the work.
