Indiana, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that due to adverse weather conditions, the repairs scheduled to end on April 25 will continue through May 18 along I-79 northbound and southbound in Cranberry Township, Butler County.
On northbound I-79 the work area will extend from Exit 77: PA Turnpike/Youngstown, OH/Harrisburg to a half mile past Exit 78: Route 228 Cranberry/Mars. Southbound will be between Exit 77: PA Turnpike/Youngstown, OH/Harrisburg and the Weigh Station.
Work is as follows:
- May 5 through 9: Work will be from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM with a southbound lane closure.
- May 10 through 18: Concrete patching will begin on the left southbound lane. Construction will take place around the clock from Friday, May 9 at 8:00 PM into Saturday afternoon. The left lane will be closed during that time. No work is anticipated on Sunday, May 11.
- May 12 through 16: Drains will be installed on the shoulder of northbound I-79. The northbound right lane will be closed.
- May 17 through 18: Milling will occur on I-79 northbound. Northbound lanes will be closed during this work with the left lane closed on May 17 and the right lane closed on May 18. This weekend work will occur around the clock until completed.
Contractor, Guilsek Construction LLC of Mt. Pleasant, PA, will be completing this $5.4 million project, estimated to be completed by the end of August 2025.
