This $33.2 million project will provide a transportation solution that addresses the identified deficiencies of the SR 1060 Salina Bridge crossing of the Kiski River and Norfolk Southern Railroad, while considering the bridge’s historic significance as a structure eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.
Project scope includes the replacement of the Salina Bridge that carries Route 1060 over the Kiskiminetas River and Norfolk Southern Railroad. A new bridge will be constructed downstream from the existing Salina Bridge, traffic will be maintained in both directions on the existing bridge during construction.

06/20/2025 The steel girders and SIP (stay-in-place) forms have been placed. The contractor is placing steel studs on the steel girders. They are also placing overhang platforms. Subcontractor is completing new drainage and asphalt roadway on the north side of the river (Armstrong County).

06/25/25 High Street/Edmon Road Reconstruction Begins Monday in Armstrong County High Street/Route 2047 (Edmon Road) will be reduced to a single-lane of traffic controlled by flaggers beginning at approximately 7 a.m. Monday, June 30 around-the-clock, as needed, through mid-July.

04/15/2025 Abutment 1 and 2 and Piers 1 and 2 have been completed and are ready for girder (steel beam) placements. Girders are expected to be delivered over the next 4-5 weeks starting on April 21. Wing walls on both the Westmoreland and Armstrong County sides are being constructed (excavation, forming, rebar, and concrete placement).
