Uniontown, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that the new Salina Bridge (Route 1060), which spans the Kiskiminetas River and connects Belle Township in Westmoreland County with Kiskiminetas Township in Armstrong County, is now fully open to traffic.
While the bridge is open, additional work associated with the project will continue. Crews are scheduled to complete paving of the bridge approaches in the spring, and demolition of the old bridge structure is planned for later this winter.
All remaining work is weather dependent.
This work is part of the $33.2 million infrastructure investment to replace the Edmon/Salina Bridge, which carries Route 1060 (Bridge Street) over the Kiskiminetas River and Norfolk Southern Railroad between Bell Township, Westmoreland County and Kiskiminetas Township, Armstrong County. The new superstructure will be a three-span continuous composite steel plate girder bridge on a new alignment located immediately downstream from the existing bridge. Mekis Construction is the prime contractor.
Construction is anticipated to continue through late 2026. Please see the Salina Bridge Replacement Project page on our website for additional information.
