Weight Limit Restriction Established for Route 2017 (Brush Creek Road) Bridge in Northampton Township, Somerset County

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced that a 25-ton weight limit has been established on the Route 2017 (Brush Creek Road) bridge near the village of Mance in Northampton Township, Somerset County. Signs marking the restriction were placed on Friday, April 11.

This restriction is being implemented in the interest of safety until further notice and is in effective immediately. 

The bridge had previously not had a weight restriction. The new posting will limit the weight of vehicles crossing it to 25 tons. This bridge carries approximately 65 vehicles per day. Based on the weight restriction, most emergency vehicles will not be affected. Haulers with loads exceeding the posted weight limit are required to use alternate routes. Large snow removal vehicles and certain fire trucks could require a special permit.
