Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today there will be lane shifts on Centerville Road and lane restrictions on Marietta Avenue (Route 23) tomorrow, Wednesday, June 5, at the Centerville Road Interchange Improvement Project in East Hempfield Township, Lancaster County.
Weather permitting, from 5:30 AM to 9:00 AM tomorrow, Wednesday, June 5, the northbound lane of Centerville Road will be shifted to the center turn lane from Columbia Avenue (Route 462) to Old Tree Drive so the contractor can construct curbing along the northbound side of the road. This will be a moving operation. Flaggers will be on hand to assist traffic moving through the area. There may be delays and motorists should consider alternate routes.
From 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM tomorrow, traffic on Marietta Avenue will be restricted to a single lane between Stony Battery Road and Centerville Road so curbing can be installed. Flaggers will direct alternating directions of traffic through the work zone. This may also cause delays. Travelers should consider alternate routes.
Motorists should be alert, drive with caution and watch for slow-moving traffic.
This work is part of the Centerville Road Interchange Improvement project, which consists of structure replacement, Superpave overlay, base replacement, roadway widening, milling, guiderail improvements, drainage improvements, pavement markings, ADA improvements, traffic signal improvements, and other miscellaneous construction.
The project includes work on Centerville Road from Cornerstone Drive to Marietta Avenue (Route 23), and Marietta Avenue from Centerville Road to Stony Battery Road. The project is primarily located in East Hempfield Township, though the section from Cornerstone Drive to Columbia Avenue is in Manor Township.
JD Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, PA is the prime contractor on this $36.3 million project. Work is expected to be completed by July 22, 2025.
