Route 194 Bridge Replacement Project to Begin in York County

Structure to be replaced with a precast box culvert.

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a project to replace a small bridge with a precast box culvert that will carry Route 194 over a tributary to Bermudian Creek in Franklin Township, York County, is underway. A scheduled road closure and detour will begin Monday, April 7.

The project consists of removing the existing structure, replacing it with a box culvert, and approach, guiderail, and drainage work in Franklin Township between Franklintown and Dillsburg boroughs in northwestern York County.

Weather permitting, Route 194 will be closed at the Franklin-Carroll township line starting Monday, April 7. Traffic will be detoured for up to 126 days. Some work may be performed under daytime flagging operations before and after the detour.

A signed detour will direct travelers around the road closure by way of Route 74, Mountain Road (SR 4040), Route 15, Century Lane, and Cabin Hollow Road (SR 4036).

Bypass Road near the work zone will also be closed by the contractor for the allotted time. Residents along Bypass Road will have access in and out of their property.

CriLon Corp., of Somerset, PA, is the contractor on this $826,603 project. All work is expected to be completed by October 14, 2025.
