Night work to pave shoulders following Labor Day Weekend
Harrisburg, PA – Here is an update on the nearly 1.5-mile median barrier project scheduled to begin on the Route 30 (Wrights Ferry) Bridge connecting Lancaster and York counties. The bridge spans the Susquehanna River between Hellam Township in York County and Columbia Borough in Lancaster County.
Following the Labor Day weekend, the contractor plans to implement nighttime lane restrictions so the right shoulders of the bridge can be paved in each direction. This work is to prepare to shift both directions of traffic away from the median.
Shoulder paving is expected to take several nights to complete, after which a long-term traffic shift will be in place on the bridge, with two 11-foot lanes maintained in each direction. No traffic shift currently is in place.
This project includes improvements to the median barrier and other construction activities.
JD Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, PA is the prime contractor on this $5,247,787 project. Work is expected to be completed by November 2024.
