King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that resurfacing operations are scheduled next week on several state highways across Philadelphia, Bucks and Chester counties under multiple contracts worth an estimated $134 million to repair and pave more than 200 miles of state highway across the region.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
Philadelphia
- Monday, August 14, and Tuesday, August 15, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Aramingo Avenue between York Street and Wheatsheaf Lane for paving;
- Monday, August 14, through Friday, August 18, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Castor Avenue between Bustleton Avenue and Richmond Street for resurfacing prep;
- Monday, August 14, through Friday, August 18, from 7:00 PM to 4:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Castor Avenue between U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) and Richmond Street for milling;
- Monday, August 14, through Friday, August 18, from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, alternating lane closures are scheduled in both directions on Interstate 76 between the Grays Ferry Avenue/University Avenue and the Passyunk Avenue interchanges for patching operations;
- Tuesday, August 15, through Friday, August 18, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM, a lane closure is scheduled on Castor Avenue between Cottman Avenue (Route 73) and Bustleton Avenue for resurfacing prep; and
- Thursday, August 17, and Friday, August 18, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Frankford Avenue between Robbins Street and Dyre Street for milling and paving.
Bucks County
- Tuesday, August 15, through Thursday, August 31, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Butler Avenue between County Line Road and Limekiln Pike in Chalfont Borough for milling and paving.
Chester County
- Tuesday, August 15, through Friday, August 18, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on New Street between Route 724 (Schuylkill Road) and Main Street, on Main Street between New Street and Bridge Street, and on Bridge Street between Main Street and the Montgomery County line in East Vincent Township and Spring City Borough for paving; and
- Sunday, August 13, from 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, and Monday, August 14, through Friday, August 18, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Route 23 (Nutt Road) between Route 113 (Kimberton Road) and Route 29 (Main Street/Manavon Street) in Phoenixville Borough for paving.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
Under these paving projects, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway surfaces and repaving the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.
