King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today reopened the newly built bridge carrying Merlin Road over Pigeon Run in East Pikeland Township, Chester County, following the completion of a $962,774 improvement and replacement project.
Work on this project began in January 2024 to replace the 24-foot-wide, 16-foot-long steel I-beam structure with a concrete box beam bridge that measures 27 feet and 6.5 inches in width and 18 feet in length. The new structure accommodates 10-foot-wide travel lanes and 2-foot-wide shoulders to improve traffic safety. Other improvements include new signage and roadway design features through pavement markings; milling and resurfacing; drainage; and guide rail replacements.
Lobar Site Development Corporation of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, was the general contractor on the project which was financed with 100% state funds.
