King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction will begin Monday, July 15, on a project to replace the Lurgan Road bridge over Branch of Pidcock Creek in Upper Makefield, Bucks County.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:
- Monday, July 15, through late November, Lurgan Road will be closed 24/7 between Eagle Road and Street Road. During the closure, motorists are directed to use Route 32 (River Road), Route 232 (Windy Bush Road), and Street Road.
Built in 1910, the existing 16-foot-long, 23-foot-wide single-span concrete encased steel I-beam bridge will be replaced with a single-span concrete box culvert. The structure carries an average of 971 vehicles per day.
Lurgan Road bridge is one of seven structures in Bucks and Montgomery counties that PennDOT is rehabilitating or replacing under this $7,987,000 project.
The additional structures include:
- Ashbourne Road bridge over Branch of Tookany Creek in Cheltenham Township, Montgomery County.
- Souderton Road over Branch of Mill Creek in Hilltown Township, Bucks County.
- Wismer Road over Hickory Creek in Plumstead Township, Bucks County.
- Allentown Road over Branch of Unami Creek in Milford Township, Bucks County.
- Black Rock Road over Crossmans Run in Upper Providence Township, Montgomery County.
- Linfield Road over Tributary of Schuylkill River in Limerick Township, Montgomery County.
