Thursday Work Added on Atherton Street Job

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting motorists that work has been added tomorrow on its Atherton Street (Route 3014) project in State College The work zone stretches from Curtin Road to just north of Westerly Parkway. PennDOT anticipates the completion of this three-year project in the fall of 2024.

Motorists in the State College area can expect the following on Thursday, March 30:

Necessary drainage work in the Atherton Street and Westerly Parkway intersection is expected to cause delays for the morning and afternoon commutes.

Lane closures will begin as early as 7:00 am and are expected to be completed by 5:00 pm. The traffic signal at the intersection will be placed in "flash" mode with vehicle traffic being controlled by flaggers. Flaggers will also assist with pedestrian traffic.

No work is currently scheduled for Friday, March 31.

Visit the Atherton Street project page at www.penndot.pa.gov/AthertonStreet. PennDOT will post regular updates to the project page week-to-week as work progresses. It will also post detour information as needed.

HRI, Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $30.7 million job. PennDOT reminds drivers all work is weather and schedule dependent.

Please use caution when traveling through the work zone and do not follow construction equipment into the closed lane.
