Route 2048 William Penn Highway Overnight Paving Operations this Week in Allegheny County

Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is announcing lane restrictions on Route 2048 (William Penn Highway/Business 22) in Churchill Borough and Wilkins Township, Allegheny County will occur Monday through Friday nights, September 18-22 weather permitting.

Single-lane restrictions will occur on Business 22 in both directions from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. each night between Rodi Road and Penn Center Boulevard. Crews will conduct paving operations. Off-duty police and flaggers will be used at intersections in the work zone.

Work on this $23.84 million William Penn Highway (Business Route 22) preservation and rehabilitation project began in March in Wilkins Township, Churchill Borough, and the Municipality of Monroeville between Huntingdon Drive and Mosside Boulevard. While crews conduct milling and resurfacing, base repairs, curbing, sidewalk, drainage, guide rail, signing, and pavement markings, motorists can expect single-lane closures. Additionally, in 2024 a full closure of the ramp to Monroeville Mall and detour is anticipated for rehabilitation work. Overall work will conclude in the fall of 2024.

Please use caution in the area.

Crews from Golden Triangle Construction will conduct the work.
