Project to Preserve Millbrook Road Bridge in Jackson Township, Mercer County to Begin Soon

A $845,000 project to rehabilitate the bridge that carries Millbrook Road over Interstate 79 in Jackson Township, Mercer County is scheduled to begin next week.

Work on the bridge, which is located on Millcreek Road, a locally-owned roadway, between South Cottage Road and South Foster Road, is expected to begin on April 9, 2024, weather permitting.

The project will include paving the bridge surface and repairing the bearings as well as new guiderail. There will also be paving work done near the bridge.

A detour will be required during construction and will be posted using Route 62, South Cottage Road, and South Foster Road. It is expected to be in place for approximately four months.

The bridge is expected to reopen in September 2024.

The existing bridge (Route 2103) is owned by the state. It was built in 1966 and is classified as in fair condition. Approximately 110 vehicles a day use the bridge, on average.

The contractor is Swank Construction of New Kensington, PA. The contract cost is $845,647.96 which is to be paid entirely with state funds.
