The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced that New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co., Inc., of New Enterprise, will begin a pavement preservation project Monday, April 3, 2023, on Interstate 70 from Amaranth, Fulton County to the Bedford County line.
On Monday, the contractor will start tree cutting along the westbound median from mile marker 158 to 156. Traffic will be reduced to one lane on the westbound side of the interstate.
Motorists should be alert to these changes, drive with caution and watch for construction personnel and vehicles. Minor delays are expected.
The overall project consists of milling and paving of 14.8 miles of the westbound lanes. New pavement markings, new signs, guide rail upgrades and joint sealing will also take place.
All work on this $11 million project is expected to be completed by November 2023 and is weather dependent.
