Getting Customer Service Done: Shapiro Administration to Renovate the Johnstown Driver License Center

Renovations part of Shapiro Administration’s ongoing commitment to customer service.

Johnstown, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that the Johnstown Driver License Center, located at 563 Walters Avenue in Johnstown, will close for renovations from Tuesday, January 27 to Saturday, January 31.

Under the Shapiro Administration, PennDOT has upgraded 23 of its driver license centers across Pennsylvania, in keeping with the Shapiro Administration’s continued commitment to modernize facilities and improve customer service. Additionally, PennDOT continually improves its facilities with lighting upgrades, restroom repairs and parking lot improvements, among other projects.

The scheduled renovations will refresh and modernize the facility, and will include new flooring, new furniture, and painting. PennDOT plans to reopen the Johnstown location for normal business operations on Tuesday, February 3.

“We appreciate our customers’ patience as we make much needed improvements to the Johnstown Driver License Center,” said PennDOT Deputy Secretary for Driver and Vehicle Services Kara Templeton. “We realize that closing the facility temporarily may be inconvenient, but we are excited to reopen with a modernized facility to better serve our customers for years to come.”

To provide additional support to Johnstown-area customers impacted by the closure, the Somerset Driver License Center located at 5593 Glades Pike will expand staffing and increase its service hours during the week of renovations to Tuesday to Saturday, from 8:30 AM to 4:15 PM.

Additionally, PennDOT will boost employee staffing at the following driver license centers to minimize the impact the closure may have on customers and to ensure driver licensing services continue through the week.

·       Indiana Driver License Center at 2334 Oakland Ave., Indiana.

·       Altoona Driver License Center at 1738A Ninth Ave., Altoona.

·       Bedford Driver License Center at 137 Bedford Plaza Road, Route 30, Bedford.
