Safety Improvement Project to Begin Next Week on Derry Street (Route 3012) in the Harrisburg Area

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today a nearly 2.5-mile safety improvement project on Derry Street (Route 3012) in the City of Harrisburg, Paxtang Borough and Swatara Township, Dauphin County, is scheduled to begin next week.

This project consists of milling, paving, base replacement, signs, pavement markings, ADA ramps, pedestrian facility improvements at 19th Street and 21st Street intersections, and other miscellaneous construction on Derry Street from 13th Street in the City of Harrisburg through Paxtang Borough to Rosewood Lane in Swatara Township, Dauphin County.

Weather permitting, work will begin Tuesday, May 28. The contractor will begin constructing ADA ramps during daylight hours. Traffic impacts will be minimal during this part of the project.

Milling and paving on the Derry Street mainline is expected to begin sometime around Labor Day. This work will be performed at night with lane restrictions and flagging, as needed.

Motorists should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.

JVI Group, Inc., of York Springs, PA, is the contractor on this $2,590,173 project. All work is expected to be completed by December 3, 2024.
