Online Plans Display for Route 1015 (Juniata Parkway East) Project Near Newport, Perry County

Harrisburg, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to an online plan display regarding the Route 1015 (Juniata Parkway East) structure preservation project. This project is located over a Tributary to the Juniata River in Howe Township, approximately 0.25 miles northeast of the Borough of Newport.

The purpose of this project is to rehabilitate the existing concrete arch culvert and provide continued safe and efficient crossing at this location.

The project consists of reinforced concrete repairs to the wingwalls, installation of a concrete floor in the arch culvert, installation of erosion control measures on the upstream embankments, westbound shoulder reconstruction, and the installation of guide rail on the north side of the roadway. Existing lane and 9 foot-6 inch minimum shoulder widths will be maintained.

The roadway will remain open throughout construction.  Temporary flagging operations will be required for portions of the construction.

The project is currently in design and construction work is anticipated to take place in the 2027 construction season.

A digital version of the information will be available to view online through December 13, 2024.
