Contractor to perform work on digital message board between Route 743 and Toll House Road
Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that there will be nighttime lane restrictions next week on westbound Route 283 so a contractor can perform work on digital message boards spanning the highway between Route 743 near Elizabethtown in Lancaster County and Toll House Road in Dauphin County.
Weather permitting, this work will be performed from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM the nights of Tuesday, September 24 through Friday, September 27. The left lane of westbound Route 283 will be closed during work hours. A 10-foot width restriction will be in place for the open right lane.
Motorists should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.
This work is part of a project to maintain or repair Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) equipment in multiple counties in the PennDOT District 8 south central Pennsylvania region, as well as elsewhere in the state.
Kuharchik Construction, Inc., of Exeter, PA, is the contractor on this $5,583,518 project. All work on this contract is expected to be completed by July 2, 2027.
