Contractor to repair fiber optic cable, digital message board
Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that there will be a left lane restriction this Thursday night on westbound Route 283 in Lancaster County so a contractor can repair fiber optic cable and a digital message board between Route 772 and Clover Leaf Road.
Weather permitting, this work will be performed from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM Thursday, September 26, to 6:00 AM Friday, September 27. The left lane of westbound Route 283 will be closed during work hours between Route 772 and Clover Leaf Road. A 10-foot width restriction will be in place for the open right lane.
Motorists should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.
This work is part of a project to maintain or repair Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) equipment in multiple counties in the PennDOT District 8 south central Pennsylvania region, as well as elsewhere in the state.
Kuharchik Construction, Inc., of Exeter, PA, is the contractor on this $5,583,518 project. All work on this contract is expected to be completed by July 2, 2027.
