Right lane and shoulder to be closed
Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today a lane restriction is expected to be put in place this afternoon on the southbound Interstate 83 John Harris Memorial (South) Bridge spanning the Susquehanna River between Dauphin and Cumberland counties so a contractor can perform emergency steel repairs under the bridge.
The right lane and shoulder on the southbound I-83 South Bridge will be closed this afternoon between the 2nd Street on-ramp to southbound I-83 and the southbound I-83 off-ramp to Lemoyne.
Both ramps will remain open. The 2nd Street on-ramp will be placed in a stop condition.
These restrictions are expected to remain in place for a couple of weeks. An updated press release will be issued when the repairs are complete.
Travelers are reminded to be alert for these operations, to obey work zone signs, and to use caution when driving through work zones for their safety, as well as for the safety of the road crews.
