Sherman Street Bridge in York County is Open to Traffic

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that the Sherman Street (Route 1033) bridge spanning Interstate 83 and Mill Creek between Olive Street in Spring Garden Township and Tenth Avenue in Springettsbury Township, York County, is open to traffic.

The bridge was closed last June so an additional span could be constructed on the existing 3-lane, 2-span bridge. The bridge was lengthened for the relocation of Mill Creek as part of the I-83 North York Widening initiative.

A detour in place for the closure has been lifted.

This project also included the replacement of the nearby county-owned bridge carrying Eberts Lane over Mill Creek. That work was completed last year.

Deblin, Inc, of Mechanicsburg, PA, is the contractor on this $10,117,734 project.
