Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to an online plans display regarding Route 194, Section 026 (Baltimore Pike) Culvert Replacement Project over an unnamed tributary (UNT) to the North Branch of Bermudian Creek in Washington Township, York County. The purpose of this project is to provide a continued safe and efficient crossing on Route 194 over the tributary to the North Branch of Bermudian Creek.
The existing structure was built in 1929 and is a single-span reinforced concrete slab bridge supported on concrete abutments. The bridge length is 17 feet and has a curb-to-curb width of 31 feet.
The proposed structure is anticipated to be a precast concrete box culvert. Minor approach roadway work including pavement reconstruction, rock slope protection, and guide rail upgrades will also be performed. The roadway alignment will closely match the existing geometry. The roadway and bridge will be slightly widened to accommodate 11-foot lanes and 5-foot shoulders, providing a curb-to-curb width of 32 feet.
Route 194 will be detoured during construction.
The project is currently in design, and work is expected to take place in the 2027 construction season.
The purpose of the plans display is to introduce the project and solicit public input, questions, or concerns regarding the project.
A digital version of the project plans and information are available to view online with public comments accepted through November 20, 2025.
