PennDOT completed 53 construction projects, including Centerville Road Interchange Improvement Project in E. Hempfield Township, Lancaster County so far in 2025
Harrisburg, PA – Today, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Engineering District 8, which covers Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, and York counties, announced a successful construction season with 111 active projects, 53 of which were completed this year. Work in 2025 included replacing or repairing 32 bridges and paving 147 roadway miles. PennDOT also recognized the completion of the Centerville Road Interchange Improvement Project, which included the locally sponsored Centerville Road widening project.
PennDOT has been hard at work improving Pennsylvania’s roads and bridges throughout the year, improving more than 3,600 miles of road, including over 1,100 miles of paving, and beginning work to repair, replace, or preserve more than 309 bridges from January through September of this year.
In the southcentral region, 58 projects with a contract value of $636.3 million are currently active. A total of 43 projects, including seven local projects, were or will be put out to bid in 2025 with an estimated bid value of $276.9 million.
Today’s event was held at the Centerville Road Interchange Improvement project, completed in collaboration with a local project to widen Centerville Road in East Hempfield Township, Lancaster County. This project consists of structure replacement, Superpave overlay, base replacement, roadway widening, milling, guiderail improvements, drainage improvements, pavement markings, ADA improvements, traffic signal improvements, and other miscellaneous construction work.
“We are excited to mark another successful construction season, as well as the completion of the Centerville Road Interchange reconstruction project. This project will help ease congestion and improve safety and mobility at the interchange and through the Centerville Road corridor,” District 8 Assistant District Executive for Construction Mike Reeder said. “PennDOT continues to advance highway and bridge projects such as this to improve safety and mobility throughout southcentral Pennsylvania.”
The project includes work on Centerville Road from Cornerstone Drive to Marietta Avenue (Route 23), and Marietta Avenue from Centerville Road to Stony Battery Road. The project is primarily located in East Hempfield Township, though the section from Cornerstone Drive to Columbia Avenue is in Manor Township.
JD Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, PA is the prime contractor on this $36.3 million project.

- Route 581 concrete rehabilitation project in East Pennsboro, Hampden, and Lower Allen townships, and Camp Hill and Lemoyne boroughs, $15.5 million.
 - Route11 northbound bridge over Conodoguinet Creek superstructure replacement project in Wormleysburg Borough and East Pennsboro Township, $5.2 million.
 
Dauphin County
- Route 322 and Grayson Road/Chambers Hill Road intersection improvement project, Swatara Township, $38.6 million.
 - Interstate 83 East Shore Section 3 interstate highway reconstruction project, Harrisburg area, $154.7 million.
 
Franklin County
- Route 11 (West King Street) bridge replacement, Southampton Township and Shippensburg Borough, $12.9 million.
 
Lancaster County
- Route 222/Route 30 Interchange improvements and roadway widening project on Route 222, $72.2 million.
 - Route 30 (2) box culvert replacement project over Houston Run in Salisbury Township and over a Tributary of Pequea Creek in East Lampeter Township, $3.7 million.
 
Perry County
- Route 34 (Spring Road) over Little Juniata Creek and Carlisle Street two-bridge replacement project in Centre Township and New Bloomfield Borough, $2.9 million.
 - Route 850 in Carroll Township and Route 274 in Spring Township box culvert replacement and Route 34 bridge repairs project over the Juniata River, $2.7 million.
 
York County
- Carlisle Road over Conewago Creek bridge replacement and Harmony Grove Road bridge rehabilitation project in Dover and Warrington townships, $7 million.

- Interstate 83 East Shore Section 3B interstate highway reconstruction project, Harrisburg area, $132.7 million.
 - Route 147 Millersburg North resurfacing project in Upper Paxton Township and Millersburg Borough, $4.3 million.
 
Franklin County
- I-81 resurfacing project in Antrim Township, $17.8 million.
 - Route 997 and Route 2015 Intersection Improvement, Washington Township, $6.2 million
 
Lancaster County
- Greenville Road bridge replacement project in West Cocalico Township, $2.5 million.
 - Route 897 (Weaverland Valley Road) resurfacing project in East Earl Township and Terre Hill Borough, $1.8 million.
 
Lebanon County
- Route 501 bridge replacement project in Myerstown Borough, $2.3 million.
 - Route 72 (Quentin Road) resurfacing in North Cornwall and West Cornwall townships and Cornwall Borough, $7 million.
 
Perry County
- Route 233 (Scheaffers Valley Road) resurfacing project in Madison and Tyrone townships and Landisburg Borough, $5 million.
 
York County
- Route 30 (Arsenal Road) resurfacing project in Hellam Township, $15.5 million.
 - I-83 resurfacing project in Newberry Township, $4.7 million.

Dauphin County
- Route 22 pavement preservation project on Cameron Street and Arsenal Boulevard in the City of Harrisburg and Susquehanna Township, $8.3 million.
 - Governor Road extended maintenance project on Governor Road, Fishburn Road, Cocoa Avenue, and Hockersville Road in Derry Township, $5 million.
 
Lancaster County
- Centerville Road interchange improvement and widening project in East Hempfield Township, $36.3 million.
 - Route 222 resurfacing project in Manheim, Warwick, and West Earl townships, $9.5 million.
 
Lebanon County
- Route 72 (Ebenezer Road) over the Swatara Creek bridge replacement project in Swatara and Union townships, $5 million.
