Ashville Road (Route 2006) Covered Bridge in Lancaster County is Open to Traffic

The bridge, which spans Octoraro Creek at the Chester County line, was damaged by a vehicle strike

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today the Ashville Road (Route 2006) covered bridge spanning Octoraro Creek at the Chester County line in Little Britain Township, Lancaster County, is open to traffic.

The bridge was closed Monday, October 20, so permanent repairs could be made to the bridge. A detour associated with the closure has been lifted.

The bridge was initially closed in late March after being struck and damaged by a vehicle. Lancaster County maintenance forces performed temporary repairs to reopen the bridge in April. It remained open until the permanent repair project began in October.

JD Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, PA, is the contractor for this work.
