Philadelphia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that attenuator and concrete pad installations will occur on westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) next week under a $41.3 million project to resurface and repair nearly five miles of the interstate, the associated on-and-off ramps, and more than 20 bridges in the City of Philadelphia and Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County.
Weather permitting, motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:
- Thursday, February 26, and Friday, February 27, from 9:00 PM to 4:00 AM the following morning, the first ramp from westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) to U.S. 1 (City Avenue) will be closed. Motorists will be directed to continue on westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) to access the second ramp to U.S. 1 South (City Avenue/Exit 339).
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because significant backups and delays may occur.
