King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction will begin on Monday, November 3, on an $829,772 to replace the bridge that carries Cheyney Road over a branch of Chester Creek in Thornbury Township, Delaware County.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:
- Monday, November 24, through Monday, December 1, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure with flagging will be in place mondays through Wednesdays on Cheyney Road between Station Road and Thornton Road for clearing operations.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when driving through the work area because backups and delays will occur. The schedule is weather dependent.
Under this project, PennDOT’s contractor will replace the 94-year-old reinforced concrete slab bridge with a reinforced concrete box culvert. This will expand the width of the bridge by five feet on each side to accommodate two 11-foot travel lanes with four-foot shoulders.
J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor on this project, which is financed with 80% federal and 20% state funds.
