King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a PECO utility improvement will close I-476 in both directions in Plymouth Township, Montgomery County, from 12:00 AM (midnight) to 3:00 AM Friday, November 21.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:
- Friday, November 21, from 12:00 AM (midnight) to 3:00 AM, I-476 will be closed and detoured in both direction between Chemical Road underpass and I-276 (PA Turnpike) to allow PECO crews to replace a power line over the interstate.
During the three-hour overnight closure, the following detours route will be in place:
- Northbound I-476 motorists will be directed to use the Plymouth Meeting ramp (Exit 19), continue on Chemical Road, and turn left onto Germantown Pike to access either northbound I-476 North or eastbound and westbound I-276 (PA Turnpike).
- Southbound I-476 (NE Extension) motorists will be directed to use westbound I-276 (PA Turnpike), exit at the ramp to Norristown (Exit 333), continue on Germantown Pike, and turn right onto Chemical Road to access the ramp to I-476 South.
- Eastbound I-276 (PA Turnpike) motorists will be directed to exit at I-476 South (Exit 333), follow signs for Germantown Pike East, and turn right onto Chemical Road to access the ramp to southbound I-476.
- Westbound I-276 (PA Turnpike) will be directed to continue westbound on I-276 (PA Turnpike), exit at the ramp to Norristown (Exit 333), continue on Germantown Pike, and turn left onto Chemical Road to access the ramp to I-476.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near work area because significant backups and delays will occur.
