Philadelphia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that fiber optic cable repair will begin at night next week on I-676 approaching the Broad Street (Route 611) exit in Philadelphia, under a $24.3 million project to install and update Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) equipment across regional highways.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:
- Monday, October 20, through Friday, October 31, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a weeknight lane closure will be in place on eastbound I-676 and/or westbound I-676 between the 17th Street and 12th Street overpasses.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because significant backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
